Ok, so the theme for this week's Carnival of the Recipes is "Danish". But I wasn't sure if that meant "recipes for Danish pastry", or "recipes for Danish foods". I'm easily confused. So, I bagged out of that path altogether.
My contribution is a recipe from Fooddownunder.com for:
Danish Coffee
8 cups hot coffee
1 cup Dark rum (use spiced rum for a little extra oomph)
3/4 cup Sugar
2 Cinnamon sticks
12 Cloves (whole)
Combine all the ingrediants in a large saucepan. Cover and keep on low heat for about 2 hours. Serve in bigfat mugs.
Now for the fun part. Serve this to guests, but make them ask for it in Danish:
English | Danish |
I'd like a coffee, please. | Jef vil gerne have kaffee. |
...a coffee with cream. | ...have kaffee med fløde. |
...a coffee with milk. | ...have kaffee med mælk. |
...a coffee with sugar. | ...have kaffee med sukker. |
...skim milk. | ...skummetmælk. |
...lowfat milk. | ...letmælk. |
...whole milk. | ...sødmælk. |
Don't ask me for a pronunciation guide, I'm in a clue-free zone here!
about tea, coffe, cocoa nutrients and there functions.
