I have to admit I've been intimidated by the French Press coffee maker, or rather, the cafetiére, as being something too complicated for my pea brain to comprehend. But thanks to bccy's life with the cafetiére, I think I'm ready to take the plunge. Heh. So to speak. This "french press core dump" takes us through the essentials of using a cafetiére: grinding, water temperature, pressing, and other necessary tools such as thermometer, timer, thermos, and a wooden chopstick. That's for proper turbulence, in case you were wondering.
I think using these destructions, even I could manage a french press. Anyway, I found a 4 cup Bodum Chambord French Press I can buy through Amazon for $25, so I'm going to give it a try.
Of course, it may end up being something I can only use for special coffee moments, brunches and Sunday morning lay-abouts. It certainly needs more brain cells than I usually have available first thing in the morning. When I first get up I need something fast, easy and powerful. That's why I got such a chuckle out of this post from tris at Vancouver Coffee. "my first mugs of coffee are intended as rocket fuel" hoo boy, I can relate!
hey tris, you're most welcome too! :)
