The hatred that acts out in the world is so overwhelmingly large and out of control, it feels like there's nothing I can possibly do about it, in my narrow little venue, limited energy and puny resources.
But ... I must remind myself ...
Each of us impacts the world around us every single day. We have a choice to use the gift of our life to make the world a better place - or not to bother.

And ... What the Wombat has to say
BTW, Donne didn't know the Islamofascist savages that detonated the bombs in London. If he had, he might well have modified that lil meditation to end with,
"Unless it tolls for sub-human Islamofascist savage butchers."
*sigh*
Not feeling particularly charitable right now, or for most of the day...

Donne:
No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

It's been such a sad day. If everyone would just remember what you pointed out...that we can each make a difference...the world would, indeed, be the better for it. Sigh.
