Just to prove that creativity abounds in the natural world.
This unusual piece of 3d sculpture began as a simple block of birdseed about 8 inches tall. It was placed in a planter tray and suspended by a chain in an attempt to foil a local squirrel thief.
A variety of artists contributed to the piece, with beaks ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches long.
It was noted that they sang with a wide variety of voices as they worked, and were frequently quarrelsome, no doubt conferring on the shape and direction the sculpture would eventually take.
At one point a courageous mouse scaled the chains and nibbled warily, until one of the larger birds chased him off. We have no pictures of the 4-legged artiste, but although his contribution was minimal and isolated from the group-bird effort, his work around the base was key to the final product.
The sculpture was completed in less than 36 hours. The final piece was titled "3 Tiered Tower".
It remained on display at the museum de patio, until it was eaten down to the nubbins and finally disappeared.
