And speaking of Paris, here's a review of Starbuck's Chantico, from chocophile.com. The hot chocolate drink, marketed as a French-style "drinkable dessert" is named after Chantico (shan - TE - ko), the Aztec goddess of home, hearth and fertility associated with volcanoes and the civilizing force of fire. I'm curious about Starbuck's attempt at creating something in the French style "capturing the spirit of ancient drinking chocolate and the European chocolate house tradition". Did they succeed? I haven't tried it yet, but seeing as how Chocolat is one of my favorite movies I'm going to find a Starbucks near me and have a taste.
And speaking of Chocolat, wherein the magic ingredient in Vianne's hot chocolate drink was a pinch of chile powder... I have never tasted ice cream with chile in it, but according to this review: the best chocolate ice cream in new york, from BCCY, it's da bomb. I just love her words: if only i could describe how unctuous and soul-kissingly chocolate-y this ice cream is. Yum. Makes me want some, right now!
